J A Kemp Opens Office in Paris

J A Kemp Opens Office in Paris
On 1 February 2018, J A Kemp, a leading firm of European and UK Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, will open an office in Paris. This will be J A Kemp’s second office in continental Europe. The firm has had an office in Munich since the European Patent Office (EPO) was founded in the 1970s. The opening of the Paris office represents further expansion of the firm, which has grown 30% in headcount over the past five years and opened an additional UK office in Cambridge two years ago.
Graham Lewis and Jimmy Nicholls, French-speaking patent attorney partners who have both spent their entire careers at J A Kemp, will relocate to Paris to lead the office from day one. James Fish, the partner who heads up the firm’s Trade Marks and Designs Group, will lead the firm’s Paris-based trade marks operation.  Other partners who will be closely involved with the Paris office from day one include Dominic Forsythe, a French-speaking patent attorney partner who has also been at J A Kemp throughout his career.  Dominic has close family ties in the Paris region and plans to relocate to be based in the Paris office later in 2018.
J A Kemp’s Paris office will offer the full range of patent, trade mark and design services, including drafting, prosecution, oppositions, appeals, advice on IP strategy and portfolio management, litigation and dispute resolution. Paris is the proposed home of one of the central divisions of the Unified Patent Court.
J A Kemp has provided patent, trade mark and design services to clients based in many different European countries for decades.  The firm already has major clients in France.  The office in Paris will enhance the firm’s ability to serve not only the needs of clients in France and other European countries but also those of our large and diverse client base in the USA, Japan and throughout the world.
