Our member Plan Spatial is making the power of spatial data available to everyone, everywhere.

For many leaders of social and environmental change, engagement with spatial data is often passive – received as a static update or conclusion rather than a tool to use. Plan Spatial has been engineered to change that and empower the change makers.

The perfect marriage of tactics and technology, Plan Spatial was founded in 2018 by former Army Officer, Dan Perkins and systems developer, Nicholas Jory.

Built initially to address post-conflict reconstruction, Plan Spatial has been engineered to deliver insight-driven social impact at scale. Using a common sense visual interface, it brings data to life on the map, allowing users to ‘see’ insights, apply expertise to prioritise activities and publish a high impact project plan.

Engineered to enhance perspective and decision clarity, Plan Spatial exists to support the change makers, decision takers and community shapers on the leading edge of transformation.

How it works

Essentially Plan Spatial gives you context and clarity, the tools to build effective strategies and the project management capabilities to execute them. The web app enables project planning using three central functions – layers, effects and priorities.

Layers are about information: both information layers, Eg. transport routes and carbon hotspots, and target layers, opportunity locations for delivery.

Effects are about action: these are work packages of things you plan to do.

Priorities are about order: these are effects you plan to deliver arranged in priority order, based on what you’re learning from your information layers and outcomes you want to achieve.

Plan Spatial can make moving from insight to action easy. You can toggle information and target layers on and off with a click to view more or less information and simply drag and drop effects into priority order. It’s a really useful way to quickly bring structure to your project and the project publishing function allows you to align teams and stakeholders, measure impact and manage resources.

Prove your approach

Plan Spatial believe that for transformation to take place you need to get practical and deliver at scale, and adopt a comprehensive solution that can help prove that your approach works. The platform can integrate with the tools that are already an important part of your digital ecosystem and our benefit index capabilities can prove the commercial benefits of your services helping to onboard future stakeholders, partners and investors.
