Cambridge Cleantech: The Cleantech Sector In The UK And In Belgium

 

 

 

 

The Cambridge Cleantech team is delighted to share that it is officially organising the Cleantech section of the Belgian Trade Mission to the UK.

The Belgian State-level mission is scheduled to visit the UK from the 8th to the 12th May 2022.The mission will visit Cambridge, London, and Cranfield. This is possibly the first high-profile mission of an EU Member State to the UK since Brexit, showing the significant political and commercial ties between the two countries. VIP Delegates will include HRH Princess Astrid, the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sophie Wilmès as well the Ministers of Trade of the 3 Belgian regions HE Jan Jambon from Flanders, HE Willy Borsus from Wallonia and HE Pascal Smet from Brussels along with a considerable number of leading Belgian corporates’ CEOs. The mission is focussed on 3 main axes: C leantech, Lifesciences and Food which are the 3 key strategic trade areas between the two countries. There will be a total of 415 confirmed Belgian participants from 220 companies.

9th May: Cambridge

As part of the mission, over 50 delegates from Belgium will participate in “The cleantech sector in the UK and in Belgium: A vibrant community for a more sustainable future” event organised by Cambridge Cleantech and hosted at the Maxwell Centre, on the 9th of May. The event will include talks, exchange of experiences about the sector with some case studies and roundtable discussions with experts from both the UK and Belgium with a focus on Energy and Green Buildings. It is an opportunity to show-case the vibrant Cambridge cluster with speakers from Cambridge University, corporates, such as Johnson Matthey and cleantech innovators.

10th May: London

A Meet-the-Buyer opportunity for UK and Belgium SMES. The event will feature leading Belgian corporates such as KNAUF, a manufacturer of innovative finishing and insulating materials. They are looking for many solutions that include reusable packaging and energy storage solutions, thermal regulation, and carbon capture. AGC Glass Europe which produces, processes and distributes flat glass for the building industry, the automotive industry and various other sectors will also be present. The event will also feature the Indaver Group that offers integrated services and solutions for their waste management in several European countries. This event will take place on the 10th of May (14:00-17:00 GMT) at the InterContinental Hotel Park Lane in London on invitation-only. Two other UK corporates, CBG and Socius, will also have the opportunity to meet with SMEs on this occasion.

11th May: Cranfield University

The Belgian cleantech-focus delegation will visit Cranfield University and its high-tech research facilities. It will include a tour of the laboratories with the latest in Energy and Smart Cities. It will be followed by expert talks and roundtables to enable future collaborations.

By connecting the Belgian delegates with its members, the team at Cambridge Cleantech hopes that meaningful conversations and collaborations will emerge from this 3-day event.
